Specifically, a couple of hours ago, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz called on the parties to observe a two-week ceasefire to “give diplomacy a chance to achieve a final end to the war.”

He also appealed to US President Donald Trump to extend the deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz by two weeks.

In light of these events, a regional source told CNN that “good news is expected soon from both sides,” and that negotiations are being conducted directly by the commander of the Pakistani army, Marshal Asim Munir.

The source added that the deal is expected to be “finalized tonight” (which will already be night in Kyiv).

Earlier, the White House stated that Trump had been informed about the ceasefire proposal from the Pakistani Prime Minister and that a response would follow.

Trump himself, in a brief interview with Fox News, said that the US is engaged in “tense negotiations” regarding the war with Iran. However, he did not provide any details.

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that according to their senior official, Iran is positively considering Pakistan’s request for a two-week ceasefire.

Trump’s ultimatum deadline is approaching

Recall that US President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran – to open the Strait of Hormuz by 03:00 tonight, April 8. If this does not happen, the US will begin bombing bridges and power plants across the country.

Also, recent media reports indicated that mediators had proposed a 45-day truce, but the parties rejected this idea.

By the way, less than a day before the ultimatum expires, Trump escalated his threats, stating that “a whole civilization” could perish in Iran tonight, but he would not want that.
