What will “Tisa’s” policy be towards Ukraine?
The future government of Peter Madyar plans to establish friendly relations with Ukraine. This is one of its top priorities.
As reported by RBC-Ukraine, this was stated at a press conference by the leader of the “Tisa” party and the winner of the parliamentary elections in Hungary, Peter Madyar.

Good relations with neighbors
“The Tisa government will strive for allied, and if possible, friendly relations with all neighboring countries,” he said in response to a question about the government’s policy towards Ukraine.
He added that “Hungary is surrounded by Hungarians,” so maintaining good relations with neighboring countries is one of the key interests.
Meeting with Zelensky
Madyar also answered a question about a potential meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“We will definitely meet, if not somewhere else, then at the European Council,” said the leader of “Tisa.”
The war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine
He noted that the party of Prime Minister Viktor Orban, “Fidesz,” has exploited disagreements with Ukraine for party-political interests.
“Everyone in Hungary knows that Ukraine is a victim in this war,” Madyar said, clarifying that no one has the right to decide for Ukrainians under what conditions Kyiv should seek peace with Russia.

The leader of “Tisa” emphasized that this is “outrageous, hypocritical rhetoric,” as in the opposite situation, no one would give up Hungarian territories.
He also added that a condition for normalizing relations with Ukraine will be the resolution of the rights of the Hungarian minority living there.
Orban’s policy towards Ukraine
It is worth noting that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has pursued an anti-Ukrainian foreign policy.
In particular, his government has repeatedly delayed assistance to Ukraine from the EU, as well as the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.
In recent months, Hungary has blocked the provision of a €90 billion loan to Ukraine from the European Union. This assistance was agreed upon at the end of last year, but Orban decided to use the loan as leverage against Ukraine to resume the supply of Russian oil through the “Druzhba” pipeline.
