Hungarian Prime Minister Publicly Acknowledges Defeat to Opponent’s Party

According to Orban, while the voting results are not yet final, they are already clear. Against this backdrop, he congratulated the opposition party “Tisa” and its leader Peter Madyar on their victory.

“The election result is painful for us, but unequivocal… I congratulated the winning party,” Orban said.

It is worth noting that as of 10:45 PM, the Hungarian Electoral Commission has counted 66.69% of the votes. The opposition party “Tisa” has taken the lead and is preliminarily securing a constitutional majority – 137 mandates out of a total of 199 in parliament.

Meanwhile, Orban’s party currently has 27.64% of the votes, equating to 55 mandates.

U.S. and Russia’s Assistance Did Not Secure Victory for Orban

Recall that prior to the elections in Hungary, there were reports in the media that Russia had launched a large-scale disinformation campaign in Hungary. The goal was to support Orban and discredit the opposition.

Additionally, Russian media reported that the Kremlin acknowledged the possibility of Orban losing these elections. According to the media, in this case, Russia is preparing to blame the Hungarian team for the defeat.

However, it is important to add that Orban was not only assisted by Russia. Recently, U.S. Vice President JD Vance visited the country on an official trip. At one of the rallies, he called U.S. President Donald Trump, who publicly expressed his “love” for Orban.

Moreover, a few days ago, Trump promised Hungary economic prosperity if the country continues to be led by Viktor Orban.
