What has changed in the strikes of “Shaheds” after the winter attacks on energy?
Russian forces have recently begun to combine nighttime and daytime attacks with strike drones, attempting to inflict greater losses on the civilian population.
This was stated by the Deputy Head of the President’s Office, Brigadier General Pavel Palisa, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

“The Russians have started to combine nighttime attacks with daytime ones in order to inflict more losses on the civilian population. There is more pressure on the civilian population. Previously, this pressure was created through strikes on energy and heating,” Palisa noted.
According to him, the heating season has ended, and the enemy seeks to continue terrorizing the civilian population. There is also an economic component to this – massive attacks in the middle of the workday significantly paralyze business.
“The defense forces are effectively working against the enemy’s infrastructure, which it uses to launch drones over our territory. Let’s recall the recent attack on Donetsk airport, the destruction of relays for UAVs in Crimea,” added the Deputy Head of the President’s Office.
He also noted that such attacks reduce the enemy’s infrastructural capabilities, and therefore the Russians cannot simultaneously launch up to a thousand UAVs. Instead, they stretch these launches throughout the day.
Russia is using “Shaheds” in a new way
It was previously reported that Russia has changed its tactics – “Shaheds” now fly at extremely low altitudes. Ukraine, on the other hand, is searching for and finding ways to adapt to this in order to effectively intercept enemy targets.
The key role in defending against “Shaheds” is now played by Ukrainian interceptor drones. These are unmanned aerial vehicles specifically designed or adapted to destroy enemy drones in the air.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have also recorded reactive drones flying at speeds of 400-500 km/h, which exceed the speed of interceptors. Swarms of drones are also appearing, making interception more difficult. Ukraine is shooting them down with AIM missiles and others.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine also reported that Ukraine might have destroyed relay towers for guiding “Shaheds” in Belarus.
