“It all started, if you want to know the truth, with Greenland. We want Greenland. They don’t want to give it to us. And I said, ‘bye-bye,'” the president said.
He once again referred to the North Atlantic Alliance as a “paper tiger.”
“It’s clear that we don’t need them because they haven’t helped us at all,” the American leader added.
Sharp criticism of NATO
Recall that recently, U.S. President Donald Trump has been regularly criticizing his NATO allies.
It all started when the American leader asked the Alliance countries to intervene in the U.S.-Israeli operation against Iran and help unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
The allies refused to participate in the operation. Some of them emphasized that it was “not their war.”
In response, the American leader stated that NATO is a “one-way street,” as the U.S. is supposedly ready to help its allies, but there is no reciprocal assistance.
Also, Trump recently stated that he is seriously considering the possibility of the U.S. withdrawing from NATO.
