Drone “Shvidun”: What is known about one of the most effective interceptors of “Shaheds”

The drone can stay in the air for over two hours

The Ministry of Defense has codified and approved the use of the “Shvidun” drone, produced in Ukraine, for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It has one of the highest kill ratios against enemy “Shaheds.”

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It is noted that the unmanned aerial complex (UAC) “Shvidun” was developed specifically to target strike drones such as Shahed-136, “Geran,” “Gerbera,” as well as reconnaissance drones Zala, Supercam, and “Schat.”

Characteristics of the interceptor drone “Shvidun”

The UAC “Shvidun” is made from a durable composite material. Its weight is about 8 kg, and its wingspan is nearly 2 meters. The drone can ascend to an altitude of up to 6 km and reach speeds of over 250 km/h.

The drone’s range exceeds 70 km, allowing it to effectively cover the airspace over Ukrainian cities.

Thanks to innovative technological solutions, the “Shvidun” body experiences no flutter (vibrations) at high speeds, ensuring clear imagery for the operator.

The Ministry of Defense noted that the drone has a low takeoff and landing speed even at high maximum flight speeds.

This allows the drone to be recovered in case of target loss and reused. Overall, the drone can stay in the air for over two hours.

Effectiveness of “Shvidun”

The first units are already operational, protecting Ukrainian cities. Currently, the UAC “Shvidun” has one of the highest kill ratios against enemy “Shaheds” among Ukrainian interceptor drones.

According to the defense ministry, this complex has already destroyed about a hundred drones of the Russian occupiers.

Ukrainian interceptor drones

Recall that earlier in Kyiv, the latest interceptor drone Octopus was presented, featuring elements of artificial intelligence, and its importance for countering enemy UAVs was explained.

The Ministry of Defense has also approved another Ukrainian interceptor drone – JEDI Shahed Hunter, which can automatically detect and destroy enemy drones.

Meanwhile, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, revealed the successes of Ukrainian interceptor drones at the front.

And the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, stated that the key task now is to create a domestic anti-drone shield to protect Ukrainian skies.
