Even Real’s defeat did not prevent the Ukrainian from becoming the main hero of the evening in Madrid
The first matches of the quarterfinal stage of the main European cup delivered unexpected outcomes. The Madrid club surrendered victory to the Munich team on their home ground, while the Gunners snatched a win in Lisbon.

Bayern’s triumph at Santiago Bernabeu
The Munich team started the match aggressively, forcing Andriy Lunin to get involved from the very first seconds.
Despite the activity of the star forwards of the “whites,” Mbappé and Vinícius, it was the guests who opened the scoring. At the end of the first half, Luis Díaz capitalized on a pass from Gnabry.
Immediately after the break, the situation worsened for the Madrid team: Harry Kane doubled the advantage of the German giant.
The hosts could only respond with one accurate shot from Mbappé in the 74th minute. Despite a final push, Álvaro Arbeloa’s side could not avoid defeat.
Andriy Lunin’s showcase despite the loss
The Ukrainian goalkeeper was a bright spot in Real’s performance. The analytical resource Sofascore recognized the Berestian native as the best player in the Madrid squad, giving him a high rating of 8.0.
During the match, Lunin made 5 important saves and demonstrated quality play with his feet, completing 27 passes with an accuracy of 81%.
Dramatic victory for Arsenal in Portugal
The parallel match in Lisbon went on for a long time without any goals. London’s Arsenal had the advantage, but a goal in the second half was disallowed due to offside.
The fate of the confrontation was decided in the injury time awarded by the referee. Kai Havertz successfully capitalized on a pass from Martinelli and brought the Gunners a narrow victory over Sporting.
