Bogachuk to Headline Zuffa Boxing Show in Las Vegas: Fight Against Star American Boxer

The opponent of the Ukrainian knockout artist will be the heir to a glorious boxing dynasty

Ukrainian middleweight boxer Sergey Bogachuk is returning to the ring for a high-profile bout. Our compatriot will be the main star of the Zuffa Boxing 6 tournament in Las Vegas, USA.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the official Instagram of the organization.

Battle in the elite promotion

Bogachuk (27-3, 24 KOs) will face American Shane Mosley Jr. (22-5, 12 KOs) – the son of the legendary Hall of Fame boxer Shane Mosley. This fight will be the main event on May 10 at the famous UFC Apex arena.

For Bogachuk, this will be his second appearance under the Zuffa banner. In February, the Ukrainian made a triumphant debut in this organization, securing a hard-fought victory over Rajab Butaev. Now Sergey must solidify his status as a middleweight leader.

For 35-year-old Mosley Jr., the bout against the Ukrainian will mark his debut in the promotion. Despite losing his last fight against Abel Ramos for the interim WBC title in December last year, the American remains a highly dangerous opponent. Before this setback, Mosley had a five-fight winning streak, including a victory over former world champion Daniel Jacobs.

Old scores and a “common enemy”

An interesting detail of the matchup is their mutual acquaintance – Brandon Adams. It was from him that Mosley suffered one of his defeats in 2018.

For Bogachuk, Adams has been a real curse: Sergey lost to the American twice – in 2021 and in a rematch last September.

Who is Sergey Bogachuk

The 30-year-old native of Vinnytsia made a loud statement in 2016 when he sensationally defeated amateur boxing star Roniel Iglesias – a two-time Olympic champion from Cuba – in the semi-professional WSB league in Kharkiv.

After that, influential promoter Tom Loeffler took notice of the Ukrainian and signed him. Bogachuk moved to the USA, where he trained under the legendary Abel Sanchez and later under Manuel Robles.

He became the holder of the WBC Continental Americas title, made several impressive defenses, and in 2023 won the interim WBC title in the super welterweight division by defeating Brian Mendoza.

In his debut title defense in August 2024, he had a thrilling fight with Virgil Ortiz, knocking him down twice but losing by decision.

Despite leading the WBC rankings, he has not received further championship opportunities. After the loss to Ortiz, he fought four bouts, winning three and losing once.

The full undercard for the super fight Usyk – Verhoeven has been announced earlier.
