One step toward the dream: a Ukrainian sets a record that opened the path to the cup
Ukrainian volleyball stars will clash in a battle for the final of the most prestigious European cup. Oleg Plotnitsky became the MVP of the quarterfinals, while Yuriy Semenyuk with “Project” rewrote the history of the Polish club in the Champions League.

The triumph of “Perugia” and Plotnitsky’s recognition
The Italian “Perugia,” defending the title of the current European champion, confidently passed the quarterfinal stage.
After a tense first match against the Spanish “Las Palmas” (3:2), in the return match, Angelo Lorenzetti’s team left no chances for their opponent, closing the game in three sets – 3:0 (25:18, 25:21, 25:23).
The main hero of the confrontation was the captain of the Ukrainian national team, Oleg Plotnitsky.
The outside hitter demonstrated the best performance on the team, scoring 13 points (12 successful attacks and 1 service ace).
As a result of the match, the Ukrainian was officially recognized as the most valuable player (MVP). His teammate Vasim Ben Tara also scored the same number of points.
A historic step for “Project Warsaw”
In parallel, the Polish “Project Warsaw,” featuring central blocker Yuriy Semenyuk, advanced to the semifinals.
For the capital club, this success is historic – the team will play in the “Final Four” of the Champions League for the first time in its history.
The path to the top four was dramatic. After winning the first match against “Lublin” 3:1, the Warsaw team secured their advancement after winning two sets in the second game.
Having achieved the necessary result, the team eased off and lost in five sets – 2:3 (25:21, 25:18, 22:25, 30:32, 12:15). Yuriy Semenyuk contributed 3 points to his team during his time on the court.
When will the Ukrainian derby take place
According to the tournament bracket, Plotnitsky and Semenyuk will face each other in the first round of the final stage.
The semifinal duel between the Italian and Polish teams is scheduled for May 16. The fate of the ticket to the final will be decided in a single match.
In another part of the bracket, Turkish “Ziraat” awaits its opponent, which will be determined in the confrontation between “Zavertse” and “Lube Civitanova.”
