Is the end of the Hungarian “blockade” near?
Germany hopes that the results of the elections in Hungary will allow for the “very quick” allocation of a €90 billion EU loan to Ukraine.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Reuters.

“The voting results give hope that aid for Ukraine can be provided very quickly. The German government is working on this, so it eagerly awaits the swift formation of a government in Hungary,” said a representative of the German government.
Recall that Ukraine cannot receive the €90 billion loan from the European Union because Hungary is blocking the procedural decision to transfer the funds. The Hungarian authorities have issued an ultimatum to Kyiv – the money will only come after the resumption of Russian oil supplies to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline.
It should be noted that Sweden has openly expressed its readiness to consider Article 7 of the EU Treaty – a mechanism for depriving Hungary of its voting rights. The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, even called Orbán’s behavior “unacceptable.”
Furthermore, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated that the EU will provide Ukraine with a €90 billion loan “one way or another,” despite Hungary’s blockade.
Elections in Hungary
Recall that the Hungarian party “Tisza” achieved a decisive victory in the parliamentary elections on April 12, securing 138 out of 199 seats in parliament. Voter turnout was nearly 80% – a record for Hungary since the collapse of the socialist bloc.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán acknowledged his defeat. His support was not helped even by open backing from the White House and the Kremlin.
Today, April 13, Ukraine has signaled to Hungary about possible contacts at the level of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Péter Madár.
