In Finland, a drone has been found again: the Prime Minister has made a request to Ukraine.

A new drone was found in Finland; what do the government and law enforcement say?

On April 11, a drone was discovered on the island of Iiti in Finland. The drone was neutralized, but afterwards, the country’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo made a request to Ukraine.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Finnish publication Yle.

It is noted that the drone found on Iiti on April 11 may be linked to instances where Ukrainian drones were discovered in Kouvola, Parikkala, and Luumäki in March.

The drone was found in the forest during the day, and the police cordoned off the area and began an investigation. The drone contained explosives, so that evening, specialists from the Finnish army neutralized the drone and detonated its warhead.

In the past few weeks, this is already the fourth case of drones entering Finnish territory and crashing there. In all cases, there were no consequences; however, in light of these incidents, the Finnish government is considering additional funding for combating UAVs, said Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.

According to him, Finland has strengthened countermeasures against drones. The police, army, and border guards are on heightened alert and are monitoring all cases of drone crashes.

“All information received from intelligence by the authorities will be thoroughly verified… We have stated that Ukraine must do everything within its military operations to prevent drones from entering Finland,” Orpo added.

Ukrainian drones in the Baltic Sea countries

Recall that on April 12, a fragment of a drone wing was found on a beach in the Estonian county of Lääne-Viru, washed ashore by the sea. Preliminary data suggest that the find may be part of a Ukrainian drone.

In Finland, two drones crashed at the end of March. Ukraine and Helsinki confirmed that the drones were not directed towards Finnish territory but changed their trajectory under the influence of Russian jamming during an attack on targets in Russia. Shortly thereafter, another drone was found on Finnish territory.

Additionally, on March 25, Russian drones directly entered the Baltic countries. At that time, one of the devices crashed into a chimney of a power plant in Estonia, while another exploded on Latvian territory.
