Fico stated that he would be monitoring the elections in Hungary during his visit to Vietnam.

“I wish Viktor Orban success in achieving all his political goals in the parliamentary elections. Throughout my long political career, I have never encountered such a decisive defender of sovereignty and national interests of his country as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban,” wrote the Slovak Prime Minister.

He also added that together with Orban, he is making “great efforts” to develop high-quality friendly relations between the countries, as well as to ensure “a dignified position for national minorities.”

Elections in Hungary, support for Orban, and the risk of defeat

Let us remind you that the parliamentary elections in Hungary will take place today, April 12. According to Russian media, the Kremlin admits that the party of the current Prime Minister Viktor Orban may lose, and therefore in Russia, they are already preparing to blame the Hungarian team for a possible failure.

It is noteworthy that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is known for his pro-Russian statements, just like Orban. Against this backdrop, he promised to continue the anti-European rhetoric even in the event of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s defeat. However, as Bloomberg writes, in such a scenario, Fico is unlikely to be able to implement his promises.

Additionally, Orban is actively supported by the Trump administration. Recently, U.S. Vice President JD Vance visited Hungary, where he publicly backed Orban.

Furthermore, yesterday U.S. President Donald Trump promised Hungary economic prosperity if Orban continues to lead the country.
