Prepare your festive outfit for the weather in advance
The weather on Easter promises to be contrasting – from night frosts to sunny clearings during the day. Although precipitation is likely in some areas, the gusts of wind will finally calm down.
In a blitz interview for RBC-Ukraine, the head of the media relations department of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Natalia Ptukha shared this information.

Main points:
- Forecast for Easter: On April 12, there will not yet be a significant warming, but bad weather will begin to recede, and the first clearings will appear.
- Precipitation: Light rain is possible on the holiday (especially in the Right Bank), and at night and in the morning, wet snow may mix in some areas.
- Temperature regime: On Sunday, daytime temperatures across Ukraine are expected to be +7…+12°C. The warmest will be in Transcarpathia, the south, and the east – locally up to +15°C.
- Frosts: During the night hours, the threat of “minus” temperatures remains in most regions, especially where the sky will be clear.
- Wind: The situation will calm down, with no strong gusts expected, which will add comfort.
- When will it warm up: Noticeable spring warmth may return on April 13-14. Temperatures will rise to +11…+16°C, and in Transcarpathia – up to +19°C.
Will the weather change in the coming days
– We are still under the influence of a cold air mass with atmospheric fronts associated with a cyclone (which is located to the northeast of Ukraine).
However, over the weekend, it will gradually lose its strength.
We expect that on Saturday and Sunday (April 11-12, – Ed.) there will start to be a bit more clearings from time to time.
But for now, we do not expect any radical changes over the weekend.
There is a certain trend towards rising temperatures, but only by a few degrees.
Should Ukrainians expect precipitation on Easter
– Across Ukraine, on April 12, there may be light rain in some areas. In the Right Bank, they may cover a larger area.
During the night hours, there may also be wet snow.
If we see that during the day there may be (precipitation, – Ed.) with wet snow, then on the 12th – at night and possibly in the morning.
If there are precipitation during this time, wet snow may mix in.

Where are fogs likely and what about frosts
– At night and in the morning in the southeastern part, there may still be fogs in some areas. The humidity is quite high.
But at least there will no longer be such intense winds from the northwest as now – over the weekend… There will be a calmer wind situation.
It will be from variable directions, at a speed of 3-8 m/s. At least it will no longer cause discomfort.
However, during the night hours, the probability of frosts remains – in most regions.
There may also be (frosts, – Ed.) in the air. Especially in those regions where there will be a period of clear skies. There, they may occur in the air.
Although, again, they may manifest locally. The cold air mass remains, but it depends on cloud cover.
If there is less cloud cover at a certain moment before dawn – during a period of clearings – the probability of frosts increases.
If there is cloud cover with precipitation at that time, then, of course, the probability of frosts decreases.
But the prerequisites for them exist.

What will happen to the air temperature on Sunday
– The temperature during the day will already be a bit higher, 7-12 degrees Celsius – across Ukraine.
In Transcarpathia, the south, and the eastern regions – the surface layer of air may warm up to 10-15°C in some places.
But still, coolness remains… It will rise by a few degrees – on April 12 – but not rapidly.
When will warmth begin to return to Ukraine
– More noticeable changes are expected at the beginning of next week.
On Monday-Tuesday (April 13-14, – Ed.), the synoptic situation will change.
There will be more clearings, less precipitation, and higher temperature values.
Some changes will already begin on Sunday – certain adjustments will start. But noticeable ones will be from Tuesday.
Although on Monday, during clearings, if there is already no precipitation (the probability of precipitation is also decreasing), the weather will be more comfortable. And there will be less wind.
Gradually, the weather will improve.
Each subsequent day will be literally one or two degrees higher (air temperature – Ed.) than the previous one.
And there will be slightly less cloud cover. A little less precipitation.
On April 13-14, the temperature across Ukraine will be 11-16 degrees Celsius. In Transcarpathia – even up to +19°C. This is currently the maximum.
