“Currently, allies on NATO’s eastern flank and our friends in the Persian Gulf are defending against Russian and Iranian drones thanks to Ukrainian technologies that did not even exist a year ago,” he said.
The NATO Secretary General emphasized that “allies are moving quickly” to secure budgets, increase armed forces, and implement necessary capabilities, but Rutte added, “they need more.”
“A more scalable, adaptive drone interception technology is needed. And here the hard-earned lessons of Ukraine on the battlefield are saving lives beyond its own borders,” he noted.
Rutte also stated that more high-tech capabilities are needed for “defense against modern missiles that our adversaries are using against Kyiv and Tel Aviv.”
Recall that earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that over 200 Ukrainian military experts are helping countries in the Middle East repel kamikaze drone attacks.
According to the head of state, Ukrainian specialists are working in three countries in the region, and more than 30 specialists are ready for deployment.
It was also reported that Kyiv sent three groups of specialists to the Middle East to counter “Shaheds.” This involves not only sharing interception experience but also attempts to strengthen its own air defense system, particularly by acquiring PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot systems.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Ukrainian instructors sent to the Middle East were struck by the ineffectiveness of allies in combating drones.
