Kyiv commented on Vance’s statements about alleged Ukrainian interference in the elections in Hungary

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the statements of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance regarding alleged Ukrainian interference in the elections in Hungary and the U.S. In particular, the agency described them as merely part of the election campaign.

This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgiy Tikhiy, in response to a question from RBC-Ukraine at a press conference.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that these words were made in the context of the election campaign and should not be given too much weight.

What the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said

Tikhiy urged to review the entire press conference rather than focus on individual quotes from Telegram channels.

“First of all, I urge everyone to listen to the entire press conference where this was said, because we also saw anonymous messages in Telegram channels yesterday,” he said.

According to him, journalists at that press conference tried several times to provoke Vance into making sharp statements. However, he responded neutrally.

Kyiv does not dramatize

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged that a certain phrase was indeed said.

“Regarding that phrase, we understand that it occurred within the framework of the election campaign, and we do not attach any overly risky emotional connotation to it,” Tikhiy emphasized.

He also noted that there have been no separate communications with the Americans on this matter – both Washington and Kyiv are currently occupied with more important issues.

“To be honest, we do not overload the meaning of this statement and again urge everyone to look at it in full – then it will become clear that these words did not come from the mouth of the President of the United States,” the spokesperson added.

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, during his visit to Budapest, Vance accused the Ukrainian intelligence of attempting to influence the election results in Hungary.

He also supported Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban ahead of the parliamentary elections and equated him to Trump, calling both “peacemakers.”

Recently, a film was released in Hungary about Orban’s pressure on voters. In attempts to influence the results, the government of the Hungarian Prime Minister does not shy away from even using drugs.
