Zelensky has arrived in Syria for negotiations: what is known so far

President spoke about the purpose of his trip to Syria

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Syria for an official visit to conduct negotiations on security and economic cooperation.

This was stated by Volodymyr Zelensky, as reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the official Telegram channel of the president and the Syrian agency SANA.

Details of the visit to Damascus

According to the agency, the Ukrainian delegation was welcomed at Damascus International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Syria Assad Hassan Al-Shaybani.

Together with the President of Ukraine, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Hakan Fidan also arrived in the country.

The visit program includes several substantive formats of meetings aimed at strengthening international ties.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine continues active work on the diplomatic front.

The president emphasized the importance of economic cooperation and security collaboration within the framework of this visit.

“We continue our active Ukrainian diplomacy for real security and economic interaction. Every nation, every region deserves a peaceful life,” the President of Ukraine noted.

Tour of the Middle East

It should be noted that the visit to Damascus is a continuation of the president’s extensive diplomatic tour of the Middle East.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is counting on the help of countries in the region with diesel supplies in exchange for expertise and assistance in combating Shahed-type drones.

Additionally, during the trip, Ukraine and Qatar signed a 10-year partnership agreement in the defense sector. The document provides for the development of joint technological projects and attracting investments in the defense industry.

Moreover, during a meeting in Abu Dhabi with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, agreements were reached on new cooperation in the field of security, particularly regarding infrastructure protection and responding to regional threats.
