The President thanked the Bulgarian side for the visit, the negotiations held, and the agreements reached. According to him, the teams of the two countries had been working for a long time on preparing the document, and now the parties have officially solidified their cooperation for the next decade.

Military cooperation

Among the key provisions of the agreement, Zelensky mentioned the continuation of military support for Ukraine from Bulgaria. He specifically noted the agreement on joint arms production on the territory of both countries, particularly drones.

“I believe this strengthens both our countries, both our nations,” he remarked.

Energy corridor

Another important area Zelensky highlighted was energy. He stated that the parties are working on an energy corridor, which, with technical upgrades, could be ready by the end of the year.

“And for us today, this is very important; at least it can be an alternative if there are certain blockages from some representatives of Europe,” added the Ukrainian leader.

According to him, this concerns the potential to receive about 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

PURL program

The president also thanked Bulgaria for the positive signal regarding joining the PURL program. He stated that this is an important signal of support and an additional opportunity to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, especially ahead of the upcoming heating season.

Zelensky also expressed gratitude to Sofia for its consistent support of Ukraine’s future accession to the European Union. He noted that Bulgaria demonstrates a direct, transparent, and clear position regarding Kyiv’s Euro-integration course.

“I am grateful that there is very direct, transparent, and clear support from Bulgaria for Ukraine regarding our future accession to the European Union. Thank you for such consistent policy, thank you for this visit,” the head of state summarized.

Recall that Ukraine has already concluded a number of bilateral security agreements with partner countries. Among them are the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, and the United States.

Subsequently, the European Union, Lithuania, Estonia, Japan, Poland, Luxembourg, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Ireland also joined this list.
