Free rehabilitation for the wounded: a new military rehabilitation center has opened in Kyiv.

Every year, thousands of defenders will be able to undergo free rehabilitation here.

A new rehabilitation center for military personnel has opened in Kyiv. It has become the 19th facility within the national RECOVERY network, established for the rehabilitation of injured defenders.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.

The center is the fourth in the Kyiv region. Here, military personnel can undergo free rehabilitation after injuries, including those sustained during combat. It is estimated that around a thousand patients will be able to receive assistance annually.

How the center works

The center specializes in rehabilitating military personnel after gunshot wounds and blast injuries. To address functional impairments, specialists use virtual reality (VR) systems and biofeedback training devices, which accelerate the recovery of coordination and motor functions.

The new facility is based in a state medical institution. It has created a full-fledged treatment and rehabilitation area – with a physical therapy room, individual therapy offices, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, massage, as well as spaces for psychologists and speech therapists.

An inclusive space has been specially designed: barrier-free, with wide passages, handrails, and special flooring. Additionally, with the participation of city authorities, a stationary department with 36 beds has been established.

Who works with patients

Recovery is provided by a multidisciplinary team – doctors of physical and rehabilitation medicine, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, as well as prosthetics specialists.

This approach allows for addressing not only physical injuries but also the psychological and social consequences of war.

What is known about the network of centers

The RECOVERY network was founded by Viktor and Elena Pinchuk. It operates in various regions of Ukraine – particularly in Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa, Poltava, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and other cities.

As noted by project founder Viktor Pinchuk, more than 43,000 military personnel have already undergone rehabilitation at these centers.

Furthermore, the project also develops educational programs for medical professionals – training and internships have already been completed by thousands of specialists, including abroad.

Overall, such centers provide free assistance to military personnel and operate as part of the recovery system for injuries caused by war.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that a new rehabilitation department for patients with physical function impairments, primarily injured military personnel, has opened in Kyiv. There, comprehensive assistance and rehabilitation will be provided with the involvement of a multidisciplinary team of specialists.

Additionally, in 2025, several departments in Kyiv hospitals were updated and opened: neurosurgery, polytrauma, intensive care, surgical, and operating blocks.
