Peter Madjar’s party has increased its lead to 23% among active voters
The opposition party “Tisa” has strengthened its leadership over the ruling coalition, which could secure it a constitutional majority and lead to the formation of a two-party parliament.
This is reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the results of a Median survey for the publication HVG.

Party ratings and forecasts
According to the survey conducted in the second half of March, the advantage of the “Tisa” party over “Fides” is 16 percentage points among the general population and 20 points among those who have made their choice. Among “decided” voters, this gap reaches 23 points.
Sociologists note that if such proportions remain until the voting day on April 12, “Tisa” would secure two-thirds of the seats in parliament. Since support for other parties (DK, “Two-tailed Dog”, Mi Hazánk) fluctuates around 1-2%, Hungary has a high chance of achieving a two-party legislative system.
Candidate evaluations and expectations
For the first time in the observation period, a relative majority of voters believe in the opposition’s victory.
The forecast for victory – 47% of respondents are betting on the success of opposition leader Peter Madjar, while 35% believe in the triumph of “Fides”.
Suitability for the position of prime minister – Peter Madjar’s rating has risen to 54%. The current Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, is considered suitable by 45% of respondents.
Experts also predict an extremely high turnout – 89% of respondents stated their intention to go to the polls.
Features of the election campaign
The campaigns of the leaders differ significantly in format.
Viktor Orban holds closed-format meetings with organized transportation for listeners, focusing on the themes of “war and peace”.
In contrast, Peter Madjar conducts open forums, where he discusses local issues – the state of hospitals, schools, and transportation infrastructure.
Context surrounding the elections in Hungary
It is worth noting that the current election campaign in Hungary is taking place against a backdrop of serious scandals and statements about external influence. In particular, Politico reported that Viktor Orban is already preparing a plan in case of his defeat to complicate the work of the new government as much as possible.
At the same time, Western media, particularly The Washington Post, reported on the preparation of Russian special services for staging an assassination attempt on the Hungarian Prime Minister, which was supposed to mobilize his electorate.
Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump openly supported Orban, calling him a “true fighter” during the most challenging electoral challenge in decades.
