New Top Officials Appointed in the SBU
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made personnel changes in the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to RBK-Ukraine, the relevant decrees were posted on the website of the President of Ukraine on March 25.

Changes have occurred in the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine – new heads have been appointed for two strategic departments.
Who Heads the Counterintelligence Department
The head of state has appointed Serhiy Hunkovskyi as the head of the SBU’s Counterintelligence Department. This is one of the most important divisions of the service, responsible for combating espionage and protecting state interests.
“To appoint Hunkovskyi Serhiy Leonidovych as the head of the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine,” reads decree No. 269/2026.
Changes in Military Counterintelligence
Viktor Zayets has been appointed as the head of the Military Counterintelligence Department.
“To appoint Zayets Viktor Mykolayovych as the head of the Military Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine,” is noted in decree No. 270/2026.
Recall that it was previously reported that Zelensky is preparing changes in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A special representative for Belarus and more will be appointed.
Additionally, former British Prime Minister Sunak has taken on the role of advisor to Zelensky. He will consult the head of state on issues of economic recovery.
