“Russia has brutally shelled the central part of Lviv – a city of exceptional cultural value that is on the UNESCO World Heritage list,” the minister noted.

He also pointed out that damage was inflicted on UNESCO World Heritage sites and added that not only the center but also residential areas of Lviv were shelled.

“I urge the Director-General of UNESCO to respond immediately and decisively to this crime,” Sibiga emphasized.

The Foreign Minister stressed that Ukraine is using all available mechanisms to protect its cultural heritage and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. He also called for punishment for Russia for violating international law.

“Russia is doing exactly what the Iranian regime does in the Middle East, but in the middle of Europe. Russia confirms its status as a terrorist state. And this is how it should be treated – through strength, not weakness, and by increasing pressure on all fronts,” Sibiga stated.
