This animal is a kind of talisman for the residents of Zarechne
In Zarechne, Rivne region, a well-known deer named Boris was hit by a vehicle. Police have already located the driver who struck the animal and fled the scene.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a publication from the Rivne Regional Police press service on Facebook.

When the incident involving the animal became known
Ukrainians were informed that on Monday, March 23, around 7:15 PM, the police received a report from a 57-year-old resident of the urban-type settlement of Zarechne (in the Varash district of Rivne region).
He stated that an unknown driver hit a deer on Central Street and fled the scene.
What the police later learned
The police established that a 28-year-old local resident was involved in the reported accident.
It was clarified that she was driving a Mercedes without headlights on.

“The driver explained to the police that she fled the scene because she was scared. The damaged vehicle was found at her place of residence,” the authorities reported.
It is noted that “according to the inspection, the driver of the car was sober.”

What is known about the condition of deer Boris
“The animal, which local residents named Boris, is a kind of talisman for the people of Zarechne,” the law enforcement officials said.

It is reported that the deer sustained injuries, but there is no threat to its life.
“He is under the supervision of a ranger,” the police clarified.

How the driver may be punished
In conclusion, Ukrainians were informed that the police have drawn up three administrative materials against the violator:
- under Article 124 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses – mechanical accident;
- under Part 1 of Article 126 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses – driving a vehicle without an insurance policy;
- under Article 122-4 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses – leaving the scene of an accident.
