Ukraine and U.S. negotiations
Recall that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the negotiations with American officials yesterday, March 19.
He noted that at that time, the Ukrainian political negotiating subgroup was heading to America. Its members include: Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov, First Deputy Head of the Office of the President Serhiy Kyslytsia, and leader of the Servant of the People faction Davyd Arakhamia.
Today, March 20, the head of the Ukrainian state clarified that the negotiations will take place without the participation of Russians.
Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian side plans to discuss three key topics. The first is a specific date for a new meeting with Russia at the trilateral level.
The second is contacts with the U.S. and concerns regarding the American authorities’ decision to suspend some sanctions against Russian energy, which directly affects the war against Ukraine.
The third topic is documents on security guarantees and the reconstruction of Ukraine.
It is worth noting that there is currently a pause in negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S. This is due to the fact that the Americans are currently focused on operations against Iran.
