Spring on Pause: What to Expect from the Weather Today and Where Umbrellas Will Be Needed

A cold air mass will persist at high altitudes, affecting the weather

Today, March 20, cool weather is expected in Ukraine. In some regions, light rain with wet snow is possible, while most of the territory will remain dry.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing data from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

Weather in Ukraine

According to meteorologists, today the pressure in Ukraine will drop, and the influence of a low-pressure area from the cyclone over the Black Sea will spread.

“However, we do not expect precipitation in most regions, only in the Carpathians, eastern regions, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, there may be light rain with wet snow at night,” the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center explained.

The wind will be predominantly northeast, moving at a speed of 5-10 m/s.

At high altitudes, a cold air mass will persist, which will affect weather conditions.

Night temperatures will range from +3 to -2 degrees, during the day +6…+11, and in Transcarpathia up to +14. In the south and southeast, night temperatures will be +1…+6 degrees, and during the day +9…+14 degrees.

Weather in Kyiv

In the capital, variable cloudiness is expected today. Throughout the day, there will be clearings, but Kyiv residents will not need umbrellas – no precipitation is forecasted.

Northeast wind, 5-10 m/s.

Night temperatures will be around zero degrees, during the day +9…+11 degrees.

Recall that yesterday, true winter returned to the Carpathians. In particular, snow fell on Mount Pop Ivan, and the temperature dropped to -8 degrees.

As noted by the State Emergency Service, the mountains now look like a “winter fairy tale with character”: snow covers the slopes, and visibility is nearly lost due to the white haze. At the same time, rescuers emphasize that such weather conditions are dangerous.

Earlier, meteorologists warned of a cold snap with rain and wet snow, explained how temperatures would drop, and cautioned that visibility would worsen due to precipitation.

At the same time, it became known that this cold snap is temporary – starting from March 23, Ukraine will begin to warm up noticeably.
