Why is it better to choose a special program for health checks after 40 rather than a regular examination?
The main difference between “Screening 40+” and a regular visit to a family doctor is its comprehensiveness and speed. Instead of a series of separate referrals and repeated visits, the patient receives a complete body check-up in one visit.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a message from the Ministry of Health on Facebook.

Main points:
- For whom: The program is designed for Ukrainians aged 40 and older.
- Goal: Timely identification of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes.
- Speed: A set of basic examinations can be completed in one visit lasting 60-90 minutes.
- Convenience: Patients can choose any facility (public or private) that has joined the program, with convenient appointment times.
- Result: Data is entered into an electronic system, and if necessary, the doctor will immediately help formulate a further action plan.
- Accessibility: There are already more than 1,600 locations in Ukraine offering such screenings.
Key differences of the program
Unlike a regular preventive examination, the “Health Screening 40+” program has three distinctive features:
- Focus on age-related risks: The program is specifically aimed at people aged 40 and older. This is the period when the risk of developing chronic non-communicable diseases increases, which often remain asymptomatic for a long time.
- Comprehensive examinations in one visit: As part of the screening, all necessary basic examinations can be completed in approximately 60-90 minutes. This eliminates the need to visit different offices or separately schedule appointments with multiple specialists.
- Convenient appointment format: Individuals can choose any medical institution (public, municipal, or private) that has joined the program. Appointments can be made for convenient time slots, including morning or evening hours.
How the system works and results
All examination results are entered into the electronic healthcare system and become accessible to the family doctor.
If risks or the need for additional research or treatment are identified during the screening, specialists will help formulate a further action plan directly during the visit.
Scope of the program
Similar initiatives have been functioning for many years in Poland, the UK, and Lithuania. In Ukraine, there are already more than 1,600 service locations accepting citizens aged 40+, offering proactive preventive examinations without waiting for symptoms to appear.

Payments under the program are credited to the “Diia.Card” of PrivatBank. Funds are credited within seven days after activation.
