The symbol of Alushta in ruins: in Crimea, an excavator suddenly began demolishing a well-known historical landmark.

In the so-called “administration” of occupied Alushta, they claim that a structure will eventually be recreated based on historical blueprints.

The Russian occupiers have begun demolishing the famous rotunda on the Alushta waterfront.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Telegram channel “Crimean Wind.”

The events on the waterfront have caused a significant reaction among local residents who witnessed the incident.

Just a month ago, the occupation administration of Alushta presented an ambitious project for the “restoration” of the rotunda. The occupiers planned not only to repair the structure but also to undertake an ideological restoration.

The cost of the work was estimated at nearly 10 million Russian rubles.

Thus, instead of the modern inscription “Alushta – resort,” they intended to return the Soviet slogan: “Citizens of the USSR have the right to rest.”

The work began as planned, but at a certain stage, the “reconstruction” turned into demolition.

“The sudden” excavator and the position of the “authorities”

Witnesses of the incident note that heavy machinery appeared on the site unexpectedly. The excavator began to crush the columns of the rotunda, even though the official status of the structure required careful restoration.

The so-called “administration” of the occupied city quickly rushed to justify the builders’ actions. According to their version, the structure was allegedly in “emergency condition,” making its preservation impossible.

Now the occupiers assure that over time they will erect a new structure on this site based on “historical blueprints.” However, the experience of similar “restorations” in occupied Crimea (particularly in Bakhchisarai and Sevastopol) shows that historical authenticity is often lost in favor of cheap new constructions.

Historical reference

The Alushta semi-rotunda was built in 1951 during the post-war reconstruction of the city. It became not only an architectural center of the waterfront but also the most popular spot for photographs and meetings. For several generations of Crimeans and tourists, this snow-white structure against the backdrop of the sea was the main symbol of leisure in Alushta.

The destruction of the rotunda fits into the overall policy of the occupiers to erase the true identity of the peninsula and replace original monuments with imitations convenient for Russian propaganda.

Recall that recently the Armed Forces of Ukraine organized an explosive night for the occupiers in Crimea. The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the “Proton” radar, the “Parol” radar, and the launch system of the S-400 “Triumph” air defense system.

Additionally, special operations forces targeted the launchers of the operational-tactical missile system “Iskander,” which were based in occupied Crimea. The enemy was preparing to attack Ukrainian cities from them.
