What is the key task of the National Police during the holidays?

During the Easter holidays, the National Police operates in an enhanced mode. Its crews are positioned near places of mass gatherings, and selective checks may also be conducted.

This was reported to RBC-Ukraine by the spokesperson for the National Police of Ukraine, Yulia Hirdvilis.

“Our key task is to ensure law and order and the safety of citizens in places of mass gatherings, primarily near churches, on streets, and highways,” she emphasized.

Hirdvilis added that police crews are maximally positioned near places of worship. If necessary, preventive measures may be taken, including selective surface checks, solely to prevent provocations and ensure the safety of people.

“At the same time, we emphasize: under the conditions of martial law, the threat remains real, regardless of holidays or dates. Therefore, we urge citizens not to ignore air raid signals, to comply with established restrictions, and to assist the police in carrying out their duties,” the spokesperson for the National Police noted.

Hirdvilis also urged all Ukrainians to be vigilant and, in case of discovering suspicious items—abandoned bags, backpacks, suitcases, etc.—to report such findings to 102.

Easter Truce

Recall that on March 30, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky answered the question of whether Ukraine would offer an Easter truce to the aggressor country and what international guarantees would be needed to ensure that the Russian Federation “does not use the pause to strengthen its military positions.”

Later, the spokesperson for the Russian dictator, Dmitry Peskov, stated that “no clear initiative regarding an Easter truce” was voiced by the Ukrainian president.

It is noteworthy that the Institute for the Study of War pointed out that Ukraine continues to offer concessions and demonstrate readiness for negotiations with the Russian Federation. In contrast, the Kremlin shows its disinterest in a ceasefire or negotiations to end the war.

After this, on April 1, the aggressor country launched a massive strike on Ukraine with more than 700 “Shaheds,” and Zelensky noted that this was the Russian Federation’s “response” to the proposal for an Easter truce.

Yesterday, April 6, Zelensky reported that Kyiv had sent a proposal for an energy truce to Moscow through the American side.
