Reasons for extending exemptions

According to the publication, the U.S. Department of the Treasury may officially announce the extension of sanctions relief as early as this Friday.

The current permit for the purchase of a certain amount of Russian oil and petroleum products has been in effect since mid-March, and its validity expires on April 11.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Washington is trying to mitigate the shock in the energy market. This decision aims to stabilize global energy prices amid the U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran.

Military actions against Iran create a threat of fuel shortages and sharp price spikes, thus making control over energy resource costs a priority for the White House.

Visit of Putin’s envoy to the USA

It should be noted that it became known the day before that special representative of the Russian dictator Kirill Dmitriev arrived in the USA for negotiations with Donald Trump’s circle.

According to sources, the main topics of the meetings are the discussion of a possible peace agreement regarding Ukraine, as well as the restoration of economic cooperation between Washington and Moscow. This visit coincides with the deadline for reviewing oil sanctions, which falls on April 11.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that there are currently no grounds for easing sanctions pressure on Russia, as this would only encourage Kremlin aggression.
