Ukraine is ready to contribute to the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz, – Sibiga

Ukraine offers its assistance in protecting strategic maritime routes

Ukraine’s combat experience in countering maritime blockades could be useful for safeguarding shipping in the Strait of Hormuz due to actions by Iran.

This was stated by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, as reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The connection between Russian aggression and Iran’s actions

During an international meeting on restoring freedom of navigation, the Foreign Minister emphasized that Iranian terror is not an abstraction for Ukrainians, who face Shahed drone attacks daily.

Sibiga drew a direct parallel between the Russian blockade of the Black Sea and the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to him, terrorist regimes exchange experiences, and Iran is turning energy into weapons just as Russia attempted to do with food supplies.

“What Iran is doing today in the Strait of Hormuz, Russia did yesterday in the Black Sea. The problem is that Iran has learned from Russia’s mistakes and drawn conclusions,” the minister emphasized.

Ukraine’s experience and global security

Ukraine has already sent specialists to Middle Eastern countries to strengthen security cooperation. Sibiga reminded that the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to break the Russian blockade thanks to maritime drones and a decisive strategy.

“There are no longer isolated regional conflicts. Ukraine’s combat experience is valuable for the Middle East. Global security is interconnected,” noted the Foreign Minister.

He added that Ukraine is ready to contribute to the protection of freedom of navigation and work with partners to put an end to the blockade.

Ukraine’s cooperation with Middle Eastern countries

It is worth noting that earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that more than 200 Ukrainian military experts are already working in the Middle East. They are assisting partners in downing Iranian kamikaze drones, sharing unique combat experience.

According to the head of state, 11 countries have already turned to Ukraine for protection against drones. Currently, Ukrainian teams of specialists are deployed in five countries in the region, and the United States has officially approached Kyiv for expert support for its military in the Middle East.

Ukraine is also negotiating serious defense agreements with countries in the region and has proposed a “drone deal” cooperation format to the United States, which involves the exchange of technologies and practical experience in countering UAVs.
