When the opening of McDonald’s in Mykolaiv became known

After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, McDonald’s restaurants in Ukraine temporarily ceased operations.

They began reopening their doors to visitors only in 2023.

In Mykolaiv, the final decision regarding the return of McDonald’s depended for a long time on the security situation.

The company stated that it constantly monitors the situation in the region.

At the same time, Ukrainians were explained that a full return requires almost the same investments and efforts as creating a new establishment (as it is necessary to assess the condition of the premises, equipment, establish supplies, form and train a team, ensure logistics, etc.).

In mid-February 2026, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State (Military) Administration, Vitaliy Kim, reported, “to avoid rumors,” that he “spoke with the management of McDonald’s.”

He clarified that the person he spoke with assured him that the fast-food restaurant in Mykolaiv would reopen “in the near future.”

Recall that in March 2025, it became known that McDonald’s was bringing back a popular service among many visitors – breakfast sales (at that time, the morning menu was launched in six cities of Ukraine).

Shortly thereafter, McDonald’s returned the Ukrainian menu to its restaurants.
