Diplomat Reveals Key Objectives in War Against Iran

Israel is pursuing two key objectives in its war against Iran – the destruction of Tehran’s nuclear program and missile capabilities.

This was stated by Israel’s ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

In response to a question about Israel’s goals in the war against Iran and their alignment with the U.S. position, the diplomat noted that they may differ.

“Of course, I cannot speak on behalf of Donald Trump (the U.S. president – ed.) or the United States, but I fully admit that Israeli goals are more narrow,” he said.

According to Brodsky, “there are two goals of this war from Israel’s perspective.”

The first is to completely destroy Iran’s nuclear program and make it impossible for it to be resumed in the coming years or even decades.

The second is to eliminate the country’s missile capabilities, including missiles, launchers, and the production of missiles and drones on Iranian territory.

As the diplomat emphasized, this is necessary so that even if the current regime remains, Iran cannot resume military programs and continue to threaten neighboring countries and the entire world.

Conflict in the Middle East

On February 28, the U.S. and Israel launched a series of strikes against Iran, particularly targeting the capital, Tehran. These attacks were a continuation of bombings that began back in June 2025.

U.S. President Donald Trump accused Iran of financing and training militants in Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq, as well as supporting Hamas in Palestine. According to him, the main goal of the operation is to destroy Iran’s missile program.

In response, Tehran began attacks on American bases and civilian infrastructure in neighboring countries on February 28, and announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, since the start of the military campaign on February 28, the Israeli Air Force has carried out about 400 strikes in western and central Iran.

Despite the intensity of the attacks, Israeli leadership plans to continue the operation for at least another three weeks. However, the implementation of these plans may depend on Washington’s position.

According to media reports, the Trump administration is eager to conclude hostilities sooner than Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu desires. The White House has allegedly set April 9 as the preferred date for ending the operation.

The Israeli General Staff is considering this scenario 100% and understands that there is a window of opportunity that could close at any moment.

Additionally, The New York Times learned of a secret plan by Israeli intelligence Mossad regarding Iran.
