The U.S. is preparing large-scale arms shipments to the Middle East: Trump has taken a radical step.

What prompted a departure from the usual rules?

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump decided to expedite the sale of billions of dollars worth of arms to the UAE, Kuwait, and Jordan, bypassing Congress due to threats from Iran.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing CNN.

Details of the emergency decision

According to the publication, the U.S. State Department released a justification for the emergency situation that allows for the waiver of lengthy legislative review requirements for agreements.

This move is explained by the need for immediate strengthening of the defensive capabilities of allies in the Persian Gulf.

According to the agency, these countries are becoming targets for Iranian attacks in response to U.S. and Israeli military actions.

Arms for allies

The largest aid package is intended for the United Arab Emirates, where the deal amounts to nearly $8.4 billion.

It includes the supply of advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles, munitions for F-16 fighters, as well as systems for targeting small drones and radar stations integrated with THAAD systems.

Additionally, Kuwait will receive air defense and missile defense radars worth $8 billion.

For Jordan, a $70.5 million package is planned to support aviation, procure munitions, and spare parts.

In early March 2026, the Trump administration already used the emergency decision mechanism for the immediate sale of 12,000 aerial bombs to Israel, bypassing Congress.

The situation surrounding the war with Iran

Recall that recently U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States has effectively won the war against Iran, and the hostilities “ended in the first hour” after devastating strikes. According to him, the question now is merely when the operation will be officially concluded.

Later, the American leader clarified that despite the “crushing defeat” of Tehran, he is not ready to declare final victory. Trump emphasized that Iran may need years to recover, so there are currently no reasons to cease pressure.

Trump also noted that the U.S. is not yet ready to fully withdraw from the operation in Iran. However, according to the president’s forecasts, this should happen in the near future.
