The former promoter of the champion made a worrying statement about Usyk’s future
The upcoming fight between Oleksandr Usyk and kickboxing star Rico Verhoeven continues to elicit mixed reactions in expert circles. The former promoter of the Ukrainian, Oleksandr Krasyuk, openly criticized this decision, hinting that financial gain has taken precedence over sporting logic.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Krasyuk’s statement in an interview with TalkSport.

Money vs. Legacy: Krasyuk’s Take
The head of K2 Promotions is convinced that the fight in Egypt holds no sporting value for Usyk. Krasyuk noted that if he were still responsible for the fighter’s strategy, this fight would never have received the “green light.”
“This may sound strange, but if I had remained in Usyk’s team, the fight with Rico would not have happened. I understand that for Oleksandr and his team, there is a financial rationale behind this bout. That’s why they agreed. But I would not have allowed it,” the promoter emphasized.
According to Krasyuk, he would have insisted that Usyk hang up his gloves immediately after the triumphant rematch with Tyson Fury.

“He has nothing left to prove”
The promoter believes that the Ukrainian boxer has already reached all possible heights, and further performances only dilute his greatness.
“He has achieved everything that can be achieved. He has earned as much money as he could only dream of. He is a national hero in Ukraine. He is well-known around the world. He has nothing left to prove. Therefore, he should have ended his career and moved on to the next stage of his life,” Krasyuk added.
What is known about the Usyk – Verhoeven fight
Despite the criticism, preparations for the extraordinary bout continue. The meeting between the Ukrainian boxer and the decorated kickboxer is scheduled for May 23. The venue will be the legendary city of Giza in Egypt, set against the backdrop of the great pyramids.
The fight will have the status of a voluntary defense of the WBC title. The broadcast will take place on the streaming service DAZN.
