Success after the Olympics

The 2026 World Championship marked the first major competition for the 21-year-old Ukrainian after his debut at the Olympic Games. Recall that it was at the Winter Games that Marsak set a personal record in the short program (86.89 points).

On the ice at the 2026 World Championship, Kirill once again demonstrated high class. For his performance in the short program, the Ukrainian received 83.36 points – this is the second top result of his career. Among 36 participants, Marsak made it into the top 24, which allowed him to secure a spot in the final part of the competition ahead of time.

Path to the final

For Marsak, this success was a long-awaited revenge for previous failures. Until now, the skater had participated in two world championships but did not make it to the final:

  • 2023 World Championship: 35th place
  • 2025 World Championship: 33rd place

“I am very pleased with my performance. Yes, we lost some points on the spins, but overall I am happy that we maintain a high standard of quality at such major competitions as the Olympic Games and the World Championship. Qualifying for the free program was my main goal,” Kirill said in a comment to “Suspilne Sport.”

Where and when to watch the free program

The decisive men’s free program at the 2026 World Championship will begin on Saturday, March 28, at 1:30 PM Kyiv time. The competition broadcast in Ukraine is provided by “Suspilne Sport.”
