Usyk has received a special appointment in the UPL club and is preparing a major reform.

The legendary boxer has officially changed his status at Zhytomyr’s “Polissya”: he is now one of the key leaders of the club

Oleksandr Usyk has officially transitioned to a new role in Ukrainian football. The world champion has changed his status from player to top manager of Zhytomyr’s “Polissya.”

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the boxer’s personal Instagram and the press service of FC “Polissya.”

From player to vice-president

The president of the Zhytomyr club, Hennadiy Butkevych, and Oleksandr Usyk have officially signed a contract under which the boxer has taken the position of first vice-president.

Previously, Usyk had repeatedly expressed his desire to step onto the field as part of the “wolves” in an official UPL match, but now his role in the club has become significantly broader.

“I am starting a new chapter – as the first vice-president of the football club ‘Polissya.’ For me, this is not just a position. It is an opportunity to influence, strengthen, and develop Ukrainian sports at an even higher level,” Usyk commented on his appointment.

The fight against corruption and referee reform

One of the main priorities in his new role, the champion stated, is to bring order to Ukrainian refereeing. Usyk plans to transfer his sports principles – discipline and honesty – to the football field, but in a managerial format.

“One of my first directions will be referee reform in Ukraine. I believe that transparency and fairness should be the foundation of the game,” noted the vice-president of the Zhytomyr club.
