Not all surprises from the second month of spring may be pleasant
April may bring many meteorological surprises for Ukrainians, which is why some are already worried about the weather for Easter. This weekend, the sky will clear up, although the situation could change significantly later.
This was stated in a blitz interview with RBC-Ukraine by meteorologist from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Ivan Semilit.

Main points:
- Danger tomorrow: On Friday (April 3), Ukrainians are forecasted to have light rain, with thunderstorms and fog in some areas.
- Weekend forecast: On Saturday and Sunday (April 4-5), clearer skies are expected in most regions, although local gusts of wind may occur.
- Daytime temperatures: In the near future, thermometer readings will rise to +11…+16°C, and in the south of the country, locally up to +18°C.
- Nightly lows: After sunset, temperatures will drop over the weekend to +1…+6°C (it may be warmer in the south and southeast).
- Weather change: Starting Monday, April 6, a new atmospheric front will approach Ukraine, bringing back rain (with possible wet snow in the Carpathians).
- Cooling: From April 8 to 12, a drop in nighttime temperatures (almost to freezing) and daytime temperatures is possible across most of the country, except for the south.
- Warning: Meteorologists emphasize that the forecast for next week and Easter is still tentative, meaning it may change as the specific dates approach.
How the weather will change in Ukraine tomorrow
– Overall, if we look at the weather for the next three days, it will change slightly. So will the synoptic situation.
Tomorrow, the weather across Ukraine will continue to be shaped by a low atmospheric pressure field. Therefore, in Ukraine (except for most western regions) we expect light rain.
At the same time, during the daytime hours in the central regions, conditions for thunderstorm activity may develop.
Additionally, the humid and warm air mass will occasionally cause fog formation. In the nighttime and morning hours, fog will be present in most central and southern regions.
Air flows will be variable tomorrow. They will be weak.
Only in the western regions will we have a northwesterly wind, ranging from 7 to 12 meters per second (which is already quite strong).
Temperature values will be around 5-10 degrees Celsius at night (in the upcoming night). During the day, temperatures will range from 13 to 18°C, which is quite comfortable.
What to expect from the weather on the weekend
– On April 4 (Saturday, – Ed.), the atmosphere will begin to reorganize. Thus, there will be a bit more clearing.
In some areas, light rain will still prevail. However, in the western and most northern regions, the weather will be predominantly dry.
This is due to the influence of a high atmospheric pressure field.
The wind will be predominantly northwesterly. Its speed across Ukraine will be between 7 and 12 meters per second.
Temperature values will not change significantly. Only in the western regions will it be slightly cooler.
Overall, we expect nighttime temperatures to be +1 to +6°C. During the day, +11 to +16°C.

On Sunday, April 5, the high atmospheric pressure field will prevail across the entire territory of Ukraine. We will have variable cloudiness throughout the day.
No precipitation is expected.
However, the wind will be predominantly northwesterly and cool, ranging from 7 to 12 meters per second.
During the daytime across Ukraine (except for the western regions and Crimea), we expect gusts of wind. They will be local, but can reach 15-20 meters per second.
This may add discomfort. Even the temperature values we will have will feel somewhat different.
In general, regarding temperature values, at night in most regions they will be between 1 and 6 degrees Celsius. During the day, they will reach 11-16°C.
In the south and southeast of the country, it will be slightly warmer. There, at night +5 to +10°C. During the day +13 to +18°C.
What may happen with precipitation and temperature further on
– Looking ahead to next week, on April 6, there will again be a slight restructuring.
An atmospheric front will begin to approach the territory of Ukraine, which will bring precipitation.
They will be light. In some places, they will be moderate.
Overall, in the southern and eastern regions, we will have moderate rains on April 7.
In the Carpathians, there will be wet snow. But again, it should be noted that this is in the mountains. Therefore, there will be wet snow.
As for temperature values, during the day we expect it to be 5-11°C. Only in the southern part will it be around 10-15 degrees Celsius (specifically during the daytime).
At night, we will remain at +1 to +6°C in most regions. In the south and west of the country +3 to +9°C.

Is it true that a cold snap is coming for Easter
– Looking further ahead, until April 12, this is a more tentative forecast. Which, of course, may change (since we are forecasting more for 3-5 days).
It can only be relied upon, as it may change depending on how the synoptic situation evolves.
Overall, we expect that precipitation will occur at times. And there will be a drop in temperature at night to freezing (0-3 degrees).
Mainly – across the entire territory of Ukraine. Except for the southern part (in the south we expect +1 to +6°C).
In general, not only at night (there may be a drop in air temperature, – Ed.). Daytime maximums will be between 1 and 8 degrees Celsius. In the south of the country – between 7 and 13°C.
Because a cooler air mass from the north will be coming to us. Thus, it will be a bit colder.
Overall – this is more about the period from April 8 to 12. Not specifically about the 12th (on Easter, – Ed.). This period – from next Wednesday to Sunday.
But when we can accurately predict that there will indeed be frosts, we will issue a warning about it.
So for now, this is just a reference information that can be relied upon. More details will be considered as we get closer to those days.
Recall that earlier we reported in which cities of Ukraine it was historically warm in March and when exactly new temperature records were set.
Additionally, the UkrHMC explained why spring actually comes three times and what it depends on.
