In “Ukrzaliznytsia,” the rules for internet access during train travel have been explained
Passengers on Ukrainian trains can take advantage of wireless internet, but the access conditions depend on the type of rolling stock and the route. Free Wi-Fi is available only on “Intercity” trains.

Main points:
- Free access. Passengers on “Intercity” high-speed trains can use Wi-Fi for free throughout the entire journey.
- Paid Starlink. On train No. 95/96 (Kyiv – Rakhiv), the first 10 minutes are free, after which a daily rate of 120 hryvnias applies.
- Speed limitation. Starlink terminals automatically shut down if the train is moving faster than 90 km/h.
- Technical interruptions. The connection may temporarily disappear on high-speed sections and restore during slowdowns or stops.
Where internet is available for free
Currently, stable internet access is provided on high-speed trains of the “Intercity” category. For passengers on these routes, Wi-Fi operates on a free basis throughout the journey.
Payment and Starlink on the Kyiv – Rakhiv train
On the route of train No. 95/96 Kyiv – Rakhiv – Kyiv, Starlink equipment has been installed. A different usage model applies here. For the first 10 minutes, internet access via Wi-Fi is free for all passengers.
For those who wish to use the internet without time limitations, the rate is 120 hryvnias.
Technical limitations during movement
It is important to consider the specifics of satellite equipment operation under martial law conditions. Due to security restrictions, Starlink terminals automatically cease operation as soon as the train accelerates to a speed of over 90 km/h.
This means that on high-speed sections of the route, the connection may temporarily drop, restoring during slowdowns or stops of the train.
Recall that “Ukrzaliznytsia” launched Wi-Fi on “Intercity” and “Intercity+” high-speed trains back in 2024. Passengers can connect to the network for free and receive 2 GB of internet at speeds of up to 10 Mbps on 16 trains operating within Ukraine and abroad.
At the end of 2025, UZ announced a series of changes for passengers on trains. In particular, Wi-Fi is planned to be installed in sleeping cars.
