The reason turned out to be deeper than it seems – and it is familiar to many Ukrainians
Ukrainian singer Anastasia Prikhodko candidly spoke about her anxiety and insomnia due to the war. According to her, she has been living on 3-4 hours of sleep a day for a long time and cannot change this.
She stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

Why Prikhodko sleeps 3-4 hours
The artist explained that the effects of insomnia are even visible externally.
“So why am I wearing glasses? Because I have constant dark circles under my eyes. I no longer understand what to do about this sleep,” she admitted.
At the same time, Prikhodko fundamentally refuses to take sleeping pills.
“I don’t fight with pills. I believe that this is absolutely the wrong step. At first, there will be an addiction, the war will end – and how do you get off that?” the singer explained.
According to her, the main reason for her insomnia is anxiety for her children, which intensified after the first massive attacks.
“It started when there was the first ballistic missile. That’s when the fear of sleeping at night appeared,” she recalled.
The artist describes her sleep pattern as fragmented and unstable.
“I can stay awake until two in the morning, wake up at 4 AM, walk around until 5-6, and only then fall asleep,” Prikhodko shared.
She also admits that if the issue of her children’s safety were resolved, her anxiety level would significantly decrease.
“If we could solve the issue of children’s safety, my husband and I wouldn’t be so worried,” the singer added.
Despite her sleep problems, she has not sought help from specialists and does not consider medication.
“Put me on pills so I can sleep through something in this life? I can’t afford that,” she emphasized.
Instead, the artist chooses softer methods:
“I drink sedative tea, calming herbs. Many Ukrainians take antidepressants, but I am against that,” she said.
At the same time, Prikhodko notes that this is not the first time she has lived with a lack of sleep – she has had similar experiences during trips to the ATO/JFO zone since 2014 and during intense tours.
“3-4 hours of sleep is not that scary. I’ve been through this before,” the singer noted.
To compensate for fatigue, she allows herself to rest during the day and tries not to overload herself.
“I can lie down all day, do nothing – this way I compensate for sleep,” she explained.
In the artist’s opinion, it is important to focus on one’s own comfort even in difficult conditions.
“You need to build a world around yourself as much as possible, rather than just drifting along with the war. Creating your comfort zone, at least in your apartment, is possible,” Prikhodko concluded.
