Netflix Launches New Product for Children Under 8 as Part of Subscription
Netflix has launched a new app called Playground for children under eight, featuring games with Peppa Pig, characters from “Sesame Street,” and other popular figures.

The new product is another attempt by Netflix to strengthen its presence in the gaming segment. The company explained that Playground is intended to be a “curated space” where parents can be assured that their children are not only entertained but also spending time in a safe environment.
The app is included in all levels of Netflix subscriptions. It features games that work offline, and there are no ads, in-app purchases, or additional fees. Among the projects already available for children are “Playtime With Peppa Pig,” “Sesame Street,” and “Dr. Seuss’s Horton!”.
Playground is already available for download in the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand. The service is expected to launch in the rest of the world by the end of April.
Analysts cited by Reuters note that Netflix’s gaming direction has not yet become one of the main drivers of the company’s growth. One reason they cite is a more limited portfolio of recognizable intellectual property compared to competitors, particularly Warner Bros Discovery.
At the same time, Netflix hopes that the new product will help engage family audiences more deeply. Children’s content on streaming services is traditionally considered an important tool for retaining users, as parents are less likely to cancel subscriptions when their children regularly use them.
It is worth noting that the streaming service Netflix raised prices for all subscription types starting March 26. The cheapest plan now costs $8.99 per month, while the premium plan is $26.99.
