American Isis Sio Experienced Convulsions Right During the Fight
The world of professional boxing was shaken by a horrific event at a tournament in California. Young American boxer Isis Sio found herself on the brink of life and death after a series of powerful blows to the head. Doctors had to induce a medically induced coma to save her brain from irreversible damage.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement from ProBoxTV.

78 Seconds to Catastrophe
The bout in San Bernardino against undefeated Joselyn Camarillo (6-0) ended almost as soon as it began. At the 78th second of the first round, Sio took a series of devastating punches and fell to the canvas. The girl experienced convulsions right in the ring.
Due to her critical condition, the injured athlete was urgently transported to the Loma Linda University Medical Center. The fight organizers confirmed that to stabilize Isis’s condition, she was placed in a medically induced coma.

A Fatal Mistake or a Coincidence
Experts point out the shocking fact: just a few weeks prior, on January 30, 19-year-old Sio had already suffered a severe knockout in another fight. Such a short interval between serious head injuries is life-threatening; however, the athlete was allowed back into the ring.
“We are praying for Isis’s swift recovery. Our thoughts are with her and her family during this extremely difficult time,” said ProBoxTV in an official statement.

Fortunately, according to the latest reports, doctors have made progress. It is reported that Sio has come out of the coma and regained consciousness. She has been disconnected from the ventilator – she is breathing independently and has started talking to the medical staff.
Despite the positive dynamics, a long rehabilitation awaits Isis. The question of her return to professional sports is not even being considered at this time.
