Today, the Iranian side announced that the negotiations between Washington and Tehran in Pakistan concluded after 14 hours.

“Technical teams from both sides are currently exchanging expert opinions. The negotiations will continue despite ongoing disagreements,” the publication states.

In another post, Iran added that at Pakistan’s suggestion and with the agreement of the negotiating teams, the talks “will continue after a break on Sunday.”

Ceasefire and negotiations

Recall that U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran earlier this week in exchange for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, during this time, the parties will try to reach a final peace deal.

On April 11, a U.S. delegation led by Vice President J.D. Vance arrived in Pakistan along with the Iranian side. However, just a couple of hours earlier, Trump stated that he does not care whether a deal with Iran is reached or not. He claims that the U.S. wins either way.

However, according to the Financial Times, the negotiations have stalled over the issue of control over the Strait of Hormuz. Sources say that Iran wants to maintain control and opposes “joint” management.
