Winter is returning to Ukraine, but not for long

Today, April 8, the weather will remind us of winter. In some regions, temperatures will drop to below zero, with possible rain mixed with wet snow.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

Weather in Ukraine

As meteorologists explain, today’s uncomfortable weather in Ukraine will be determined by the rear part of a cyclone with its center to the east of our territory.

“A cold air mass will be present at higher altitudes, which will be supplemented by new portions of cold air from the northern directions,” the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reported.

According to the forecast, April 8 will be cloudy with clearings. Light rain is expected, with wet snow in some areas at night.

The wind will be northwesterly at 7-12 m/s, with gusts up to 15-20 m/s possible during the day in the western, Vinnytsia, and Zhytomyr regions.

At night, temperatures will range from 1 to 6 degrees Celsius, but there may be frosts on the ground, as well as in Transcarpathia and the northeast, dropping to 0-3 degrees.

During the day, the air temperature will only warm up to 4-9 degrees Celsius.

In the Carpathians, light snow is forecasted, with temperatures fluctuating between 0 and -3 degrees throughout the day.

Weather in Kyiv

In the capital, it will also be cloudy with clearings. Light rain is expected, with wet snow at night.

The wind will be northwesterly at 7-12 m/s.

Temperatures in the region at night will be from 1 to 6 degrees Celsius, with frosts on the ground possible down to 0-3 degrees. During the day, temperatures are expected to be 4-9 degrees Celsius.

In Kyiv, temperatures at night will range from 1 to 3 degrees Celsius, and during the day from 6 to 8 degrees Celsius.

We remind you that bad weather has already hit the western regions of Ukraine.

In particular, on April 6, strong winds in Volyn, Rivne, and Lviv regions tore roofs off buildings, including a school in the village of Khinochi. Dozens of settlements were left without electricity.

Meteorologists explain that the sharp drop in temperature is caused by Arctic air that has come “on the tail” of a Scandinavian cyclone.

RBC-Ukraine has also prepared a detailed forecast for the end of the week with weather maps.
