This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Politico.

Six unnamed sources told the publication that the American leader has already signaled his plans to announce the end of the war in interviews and social media posts. He has been “laying the groundwork” for his speech.

According to Politico, Trump also wants to “firmly shift the responsibility” for the Strait of Hormuz onto NATO allies.

Former White House chief strategist under Trump, Steve Bannon, stated that the American leader will outline what he has achieved in Iran and what he plans to do before the conflict concludes.

Journalists note that this decision by Trump may be an attempt to “calm voters and Wall Street,” who are concerned about energy markets and the implications of closing the strait.

“This is a serious challenge for President Trump because this is not his natural environment. The speech should not be confrontational. It should be calming. It needs to be very direct because he is addressing not only Americans but also Iranians, our allies in the region, and allies in Europe,” one of Politico’s sources said.

U.S.-Iran ceasefire

Recall that just today, April 1, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran requested a ceasefire from the Americans.

Unnamed U.S. officials told Axios that the U.S. and Iran are simply discussing the possibility of a ceasefire if Tehran agrees to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, in Tehran, commenting on such rumors, officials stated that there have been no requests for a ceasefire from their side.

By the way, the American leader also stated today that the U.S. operation against Iran could last another “2-3 weeks.”
