What exactly can law enforcement investigate in the case of the MP?
The Office of the Prosecutor General, together with the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI), is conducting a pre-trial investigation against Marianna Bezuhla. The case of treason was opened by a court decision.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a comment from the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and a source in law enforcement.
As explained by the Office of the Prosecutor General, in accordance with the rulings of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv, relevant information regarding the people’s deputy of Ukraine was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations based on the applicants’ requests.
“The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by SBI investigators under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General. The investigation is currently ongoing, so any details can only be disclosed within the limits that will not harm the investigation,” the OGP said.
What can be investigated regarding Bezuhla
As reported on his Facebook page by MP Serhiy Taruta, he, along with another MP – Fedor Venislavskyi – submitted a request to investigate Bezuhla’s actions that could harm Ukrainian military personnel.
The matter concerns the dissemination of information about the 72nd Brigade, which fought for the city of Ugledar. Taruta claims that her statements about the “withdrawal of the brigade from Ugledar” disrupted the rotation of troops, leading to the loss of defensive positions.
“Together with my colleague, we submitted the relevant request. Importantly, the Prosecutor General’s Office was ordered to open a case through the court,” he wrote on Facebook.
Recall that last year, MPs sought to suspend Bezuhla from attending sessions of the Verkhovna Rada. This decision was motivated by her “antisocial behavior.”
She often resorted to harsh statements regarding the military-political leadership of the country and others, which even led her to leave the “Servant of the People” faction.
Additionally, Bezuhla mocked Taras Topolya, a Ukrainian singer and serviceman. She accused him of “simulating service,” and referred to a “strike” on his apartment as “karma.”
