Are there restrictions on buying dollars in Ukraine?

The National Bank has lowered the exchange rate for the dollar and euro for Wednesday, April 8. The dollar will lose 9 kopecks in value tomorrow, while the euro will drop by 5.

  • The NBU has set the dollar exchange rate at 43.49 hryvnias, and the euro at 50.27 hryvnias.
  • Cash currency can be purchased for cash hryvnias without restrictions from the NBU.
  • The limit for online currency purchases is 50,000 UAH per month.
  • For amounts up to 200,000 UAH per month, a mandatory deposit placement of at least 3 months is required.

The National Bank has set the dollar rate for April 8 at 43.49 hryvnias. This is 9 kopecks lower than today’s rate.

The European currency will lose 5 kopecks in value tomorrow. The rate for April 8 is 50.27 hryvnias.

How to buy currency in Ukraine: main rules and limits

Cash purchases at counters

You can buy cash currency at banks, exchange offices, and postal operators. The National Bank does not impose restrictions on the amount of currency purchased for cash hryvnias.

Important: if you are buying currency from a bank account (for non-cash hryvnias), a limit of no more than 100,000 UAH per day applies.

Currency in mobile applications (online)

You can buy non-cash dollars or euros directly from your smartphone. The following rules apply to this method:

No additional conditions: you can buy currency up to 50,000 UAH per month.

Through a deposit: you can buy currency up to 200,000 UAH per month if you place it in a term deposit (for at least 3 months) without the right to early withdrawal. The money can be withdrawn only after the deposit term ends.
