To pass through the strait, coordination with Iran’s military will be necessary.

The head of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Abbas Araghchi, confirmed a two-week ceasefire with the United States and announced that the country would open the Strait of Hormuz during this period.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a post from the minister on social media platform X.

In his publication, Araghchi expressed gratitude to representatives of Pakistan for their efforts to end the war.

He emphasized that in response to the request of the Pakistani Prime Minister for a ceasefire, the request from the U.S. for negotiations based on their 15-point peace plan, as well as Donald Trump’s statement agreeing to use Iran’s 10-point plan as a basis for negotiations, Tehran will cease fire and open the strait.

However, the minister added that the strait would operate with one condition.

“If attacks on Iran are halted, our powerful armed forces will cease their defensive operations. Safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be ensured for two weeks in coordination with Iran’s armed forces and taking into account technical limitations,” explained Abbas Araghchi.

The U.S. and Iran have reached a ceasefire.

Recall that U.S. President Donald Trump demanded that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz by 3 a.m. on April 8. Otherwise, he threatened to start bombing bridges and power plants across the country.

However, on the eve of the deadline, the parties were engaged in active negotiations through intermediaries. As a result, Trump announced that he agreed to a two-week ceasefire proposed by Pakistan, but on the condition that the Strait of Hormuz would be opened. During these two weeks, the parties are to agree on a final peace deal.

Meanwhile, the Iranian National Security Council stated that their country had won, and the U.S. realized after 10 days of war that they would not achieve victory. They also claimed that Washington had “agreed” to Tehran’s 10 points. Among the demands are the lifting of sanctions and much more.
