Kanye West banned from entering the UK: what we know
The rapper was set to headline the Wireless festival in London in July. However, the UK government denied him entry permission.
This decision came amid outrage from both ministers and leaders of the Jewish community.
It is reported that the rapper applied for entry on Monday, April 6, using an electronic travel authorization (ETA), but it was blocked.
The decision was explained by the fact that his presence “would not contribute to the public good.”

Previously, there were critical comments online regarding the rapper’s performance at the festival, considering his past antisemitic and pro-Nazi statements. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer specifically criticized the artist’s performance. In a statement on April 7, he once again expressed strong support for the Jewish community.
“West should never have been invited as the headliner of the Wireless festival. This government stands firmly with the Jewish community, and we will not stop fighting the poison of antisemitism until we defeat it. We will always take the necessary measures to protect citizens and uphold our values,” he wrote.

The Wireless festival is canceled
After Kanye was banned from entering the UK, news broke about the cancellation of the festival where the artist was supposed to headline.
“The Home Office revoked Ye’s electronic travel authorization, denying him entry to the UK. As a result, the Wireless festival is canceled, and all ticket holders will be refunded,” the event representatives stated.
They also noted that consultations with “stakeholders” were conducted before inviting Ye. At that time, there were reportedly no concerns. The organizers condemned any manifestations of antisemitism.
“As Ye said today, he acknowledges that words alone are not enough, and despite this, he still hopes to have the opportunity to start a dialogue with the Jewish community in the UK,” the statement read.
Previously, West expressed a desire to meet with representatives of the Jewish community in the UK. He wanted to “demonstrate change through his actions.”
What is known about the rapper’s controversial statements
Recall that from 2022 to 2025, Kanye repeatedly shocked with a series of social media posts in which he called himself a Nazi, a racist, and expressed admiration for Hitler.
Additionally, under the Yeezy brand, he created merchandise featuring swastikas and released a song titled “Heil Hitler.”
Only in January of this year did the artist publicly apologize for his behavior for the first time. He wrote an open letter to The Wall Street Journal, discussing his mental health issues.
He attributed his controversial statements to a “manic episode” related to bipolar disorder. He also emphasized that he does not consider himself a racist or an antisemite.
