The national symbol temporarily disappeared from the top of the flagpole on the Pechersk Hills
Today, April 6, the main and largest flag of Ukraine was temporarily lowered in Kyiv.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (KGGA) on Facebook.

Why the main flag of Ukraine was lowered in Kyiv
According to the KGGA, the main flag of Ukraine was temporarily lowered on Monday, April 6, due to forecasted bad weather.
This concerns expected gusts of wind, which in the capital today may reach speeds of 15-20 m/s.
This is classified as the first level of danger – yellow.
Based on information from the KP “Kyivzelenstroy,” the decision to lower the flag was made to protect the fabric from damage.
“The flag will remain lowered until the weather improves,” the KGGA reported.

Where and when the main flag of Ukraine was installed
The largest state flag of Ukraine was installed in Kyiv in August 2020, just before the State Flag Day, which is celebrated annually on August 23.
The state symbol was placed on the territory of the Memorial Complex “National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II.”
The flagpole is nearly 90 meters tall and weighs 32 tons.
Meanwhile, the size of the flag is 16 by 24 meters.
The main flag of Ukraine, installed on the Kyiv hills, is periodically lowered:
- either due to worsening weather conditions;
- or for necessary maintenance work.
What weather is forecasted in Kyiv and the region
According to forecasts from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the weather in Kyiv and the Kyiv region today is cloudy with clearings.
Rain is likely.
The wind is generally southwest, shifting to northwest, at a speed of 7-12 m/s. However, dangerous gusts (15-20 m/s) are expected during the day.

The daytime air temperature is forecasted as follows:
- in Kyiv – around 13-15 degrees Celsius;
- in the region – from 11 to 16 degrees Celsius.
