March still has time to surprise us with almost summer warmth, but it’s too early to relax.
This week, significant warming is expected in Ukraine, and even nighttime frosts will recede. However, soon atmospheric fronts may noticeably change the weather.
This was stated in a brief interview for RBC-Ukraine by the head of the media relations department of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, Natalia Ptukhа.

Main points:
- Precipitation: In the coming days, most regions will be dry, with light rain possible only in some areas of the southeast.
- Night temperatures: Frosts will recede, with stable temperatures of +1…+7°C expected starting March 26.
- Peak of spring warmth: By the end of the week (March 27-29), daytime temperatures will rise to +13…+19°C.
- Weather changes: At the end of March, atmospheric fronts will bring more clouds and cooler temperatures.
How the weather will change in the near future
– Let’s start with the forecast for the coming days. The synoptic situation in Ukraine will change noticeably, and the nature of the weather will also shift.
But predominantly, it will remain positive for now.
Atmospheric pressure will slightly decrease. However, our territory will still remain outside the influence of atmospheric fronts.
Therefore, most regions will maintain dry weather.

Where precipitation may occur and what about frost
– Only in the southeast of the country – there we expect some light rain.
Cool air remains at higher altitudes, where it may still freeze at night (except for the southern regions). Temperatures will slightly decrease.
As it is now, occasionally. Down to a slight minus (-1 to -2°C). But for the most part, it will still be above zero.
Starting from the 26th (Thursday, – Ed.), temperatures at night will be +1 to +7 degrees.
This means that air flows will change. A southern component will appear in them. Consequently, nights will also predominantly be above zero.
What will happen to daytime temperatures
– Daytime maximums will reach 11-16 degrees tomorrow (March 25, – Ed.).
And, in principle, this situation will continue.
As for the temperature, it will remain at +11 to +18 degrees.
Traditionally, the warmest areas will be in the south and also in the central regions.
However, in the east, there will be slightly more cloud cover. The southeast will have that localized light rain.
Therefore, daytime maximums there will not be too high, around +11 to +14 degrees.
In other territories, in principle, the air may warm up to +18°C.

Is it true that a cold snap is coming to Ukraine?
– The trend basically remains that in the coming days – including until the 29th (Sunday, – Ed.) – our weather will be comfortable and spring-like, with positive trends.
And daytime temperatures of +13 to +19°C are expected on the 27th-29th. These will be the warmest days.
After that – yes, there are indeed certain preconditions (according to our specialists’ calculations and assessments) for synoptic changes.
But at least for today – they will certainly be noticeable, but not critical.

For now, it is simply a decrease in temperature by a few degrees and an increase in atmospheric fronts.
That is, by the end of March – on the 30th or even 31st, let’s say – we may start to feel this transition. With precipitation.
And, accordingly, more cloud cover. And there will not be such intense daytime warming. Therefore, daytime maximums will drop.
But nighttime minimums… For now, there are no strong indications for a decrease in nighttime temperatures. It will generally remain at 1-7 degrees above zero.
Locally, possibly (with clearings) – it may drop to zero.
But it’s too early to talk about these figures. We will clarify at the end of this week how the synoptic events will develop further.
