According to the publication, voting ended at 19:00 at 10,047 polling stations located in 3,154 settlements across the country and in 23 districts of Budapest.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, people who wished to vote and were still standing in line could still cast their ballots.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, the National Election Commission published data indicating that as of 18:30, the turnout was 77.80%. This means that 5.856 million people voted in the elections.<\/p>\n
Telex notes that the absolute record from 2002 was surpassed just two hours before the polling stations closed. By 17:00, over 74% of voters (5.5 million people) had already voted.<\/p>\n
Earlier in 2022, the turnout by 18:30 was 67.8% of voters.<\/p>\n
Who can win<\/p>\n
In this election, the main competitors for seats in parliament are the opposition party “Tisa” led by Peter Madyar and the ruling party of the current Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban.<\/p>\n
According to a poll by 21 Research Center conducted from April 8 to 11, Madyar’s “Tisa” party could defeat Orban’s “Fidesz.”<\/p>\n
The results showed that “Tisa” could receive 55% of the votes, which would translate to 132 mandates in parliament. This is just one mandate short of a constitutional majority. According to the poll, Orban’s party would receive only 38%, equating to 61 mandates.<\/p>\n

Whether the poll results will hold true will soon be known. The first results from the polling stations are expected to appear around 21:00 or 22:00 Kyiv time.<\/p>\n
Support may not help, Orban risks losing<\/p>\n
